Protein Prices
Ground beef ($6.75/lb, +79% since 2017), eggs ($2.58/doz, +84% since 2019), and chicken breast remain elevated. Chicken wings ($1.10/lb) are a bright spot — actually cheaper than 2019.
Dairy and Staples
Milk, cheese, and butter have all seen 15-30% increases since 2019. Bread and cereal prices have risen more modestly but still outpace general wage growth for many households.
Where to Find Savings
Store brands have narrowed the gap with name brands. Seasonal produce, frozen vegetables, and proteins that have corrected (like chicken wings) offer the best value relative to 2019 pricing.
